NOT ONE!! Infact, some of them aren't even compatible with other StarTech adapters (example): I bought a StarTechcom USB2VGAE2 adapter then I purchased another StarTech Usb/Vga adapter to replace the "other" adapter I was using, but because the second StarTech adapter I bought wasn't the EXACT model as the first one they wouldn't work together, so I had to return the second one and get another "USBVGAE2" adapter in order for them both to be compatible with each other.

If you have multiple monitors you want to connect to your pc, and you've bought a StarTech adapter for one of those monitors, you will also have to buy a StarTech adapter for each additional monitor you connect to your pc as well because StarTechcom adapters are NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY OTHER ADAPTER ON THE MARKET. That's when I knew I had to purchase myself another StarTechcom adapter ASAP!! Because the SECOND DIFFERENCE I NOTICED between the two was that the "other" adapter took up A LOT of cpu on my pc (but bare in mind my pc is a cheap ass Emachines I bought years ago from Walmart on sale, so that might play a role in it too:-) however, I noticed right away that the StarTechcom adapter was a lot less taxing on my system, which I loved. WRONG!! When I connected the StarTech adapter to my third monitor, the colors and picture quality of that monitor was EXACTLY as the monitor I had connected directly to the VGA on my pc - the picture quality of these two monitors together made the poor difference of the "other" adapter standout like a sore thumb. I actually noticed this about the "other" adapter when I first connected it to my secondary monitor, because the monitor I had connected directly to my pc showed more clear, bold, vibrant colors in comparison to the monitor with the "other" adapter attached to it, but I just thought that's how ALL graphic adapters display. FIRST DIFFERENCE I NOTICED is that the "other" adapter caused the colors of my secondary monitor to be quiet dull and cloudy. I follow all the instructions, connected it to my pc and it was great - so I thought. The first adapter I bought (which I won't named) seemed to work just fine.
I now know that splitters will only allow you to mirror an image on all of your monitors, but they don't allow you to extend your desktop (meaning: you can't view different images on each monitor at once), and this is why you would need a GRAPHIC ADAPTER. BIG MISTAKE!! I hadn't done any research, or read any reviews on these boxes beforehand, I just read the info given by the manufacture and assumed this was what I needed to EXTEND MY DESKTOP, but I was wrong.
I have three monitors I wanted to use at once, so I immediately went out and bought what I THOUGHT would help me achieve that (a dual monitor spliter box). and BOY was I pleased with the quality of this thing!!
What a HUGE difference StarTechcom adapters made in my workflow!!įirst of all, I'm not very "tech-savoy" when it comes to computers and whatnot, so I went through a lot of "trail & error" before I finally found what I needed in the StarTechcom graphic adapter.
